The freeze plug is a required part of the MSR, effectively preventing it from overheating. It requires energy supplied at the bottom of the block, and is redstone independent.
FLiNaK Salt is currently the only coolant for the freeze plug, having a notably low melting point and a high heat capacity. More coolants to be added in future updates.
